Overview

This impactful webinar is designed to foster an inclusive and respectful workplace by addressing and eliminating bias inherent in the construction industry, whilst aiming to create a more diverse, supportive, and empowered work environment.

This training is provided by IPWEA NSW & ACT, and is funded under the NSW Department of Education Women in Construction Industry Innovation Program.

Learning outcomes

  • Raise awareness: Understand the concept of unconscious bias, its prevalence, and the importance of addressing it in the workplace. 
  • Identify biases: Recognise common biases, including subtle and unconscious biases that may affect decision-making and interactions. 
  • Understand impact: Grasp the real-world consequences of bias on individuals, teams, and organisational culture. 
  • Promote equity and Diversity: Learn ways to promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of the workplace. 
  • Develop strategies: Acquire practical tools and strategies to reduce and mitigate biases within an organisation. 
  • Foster inclusive leadership: Encourage leadership behaviours that support an inclusive and bias-free work environment.

About the presenter

Dr Nassim Ghosni
Dr Nassim Ghosni MIEAust CPEng NER
Engineering Ingenuity

Dr Nassim Ghosni is an experienced chartered structural engineer, project manager and trainer. She has extensive experience working in public works engineering, research and innovation. 

She has managed teams of field staff and engineers for more than 10 years and has been a technical and soft skills trainer in higher education for more than eight years.
